St Michael's 150 Anniversary Year

Our anniversary year, 2016-2017 started at the Feast of St Michael and All Angels on 29th September 2017 with a Sung Mass celebrated by Fr Paul at which the preacher was Canon Professor Mark Chapman, Vice-Principal of Ripon College Cuddesdon. The 150th Anniversary was celebrated in fine style on 25th January 2017 with a Sung Mass at which the celebrant and preacher was the Rt Revd Colin Fletcher OBE, Bishop of Dorchester. The year ended with another very special Mass on the Feast of St Michael and All Angels on Friday 29th September 2017 at which the celebrant and preacher was the Rt Revd Dr Rowan Williams. In addition to celebrating Mass and confirming three members of our congregation, Bishop Rowan also blessed and re-dedicated the three church bells which have been restored and rehung by White's of Appleton Ltd.

Fr Paul has written about the very successful year in the October issue of The Window which in addition to special services, included lectures, a Flower Festival, an Art Competition, and concerts, all of which contributed to fund-raising for our 150th Anniversary Year charities, TAB and TARIRO - Hope for Youth in Zimbabwe.

Copies of the order of service for the final Mass (Re-dedication of bells, Sung Mass and Confirmation) are available for download for personal usage, as supplies of printed copies were exhausted on the night. Copies of the Programme for the Flower Festival, including pictures of the arrangements are also available to download.

Canon Robert Teare has kindly made available the text of his addresses during Holy Week 2017. A limited number of printed copies will be available in church and an electronic copy may be downloaded.

Copies of a commemorative book As it was in the beginning, ... is now, ... and various bits in-between - 150 Years of St. Michael's are available from the church bookstall.
